Will Hemisphere hurt my battery life?

Hemisphere has been designed from the ground up to be as easy as possible on the battery life of your device. It should have a minimal impact.

When will Hemisphere be updated to work on my phone?

Hemisphere was designed from the beginning to work on devices running Android 4.0+. For technical reasons, I'm unable to provide a version that will work on devices with earlier versions of Android.

Is my information private?

YES! Your user data is protected using industry-standard, sophisticated security algorithms. We use the same technology to protect your data that Google does for its products.

Is my location history stored?

No. Only the LAST location that was sent by your device will be stored, and it will only be stored until your location is again updated. Nothing is stored permanently. Your location is stored in a database in an encrypted format that can only be deciphered by the app itself (it looks something like this: f7b82b0j9amu). You have full control over who can see this location.

Will there be an iPhone/iPad version?

Yes, the iOS version of Hemisphere is currently in development.

Why does Hemisphere have ads?

Hemisphere uses a server hosted by Google App Engine to enable connectivity with your friends. It costs money to run a server, and since I'm just one developer I have to pay for this server with my own money. Hemisphere shows ads to cover the cost of running this server.

Subscription Details

Can I remove the ads?

Yes. With the latest version of Hemisphere you can purchase a montly subscription which will remove the ads from the app.

Why do I have to pay monthly?

A one-time fee does not cover the long-term costs of running a server.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscription cancellations are handled by the Play Store app. Open the app details page for Hemisphere (here) and choose the option to cancel your subscription. VERY IMPORTANT: uninstalling Hemisphere does NOT automatically cancel your subscription. You must cancel the subscription manually either before or after uninstalling the app.
After cancelling your subscription, you will continue not to see any ads until the subscription period ends, and you will not be charged again.

Can I get a refund for a subscription purchase?

Unfortunately, I am unable to refund subscription purchases.

The monthly fee is too expensive!

The fee that I have set for the subscription is the absolute minimum that the Play Store will allow me to charge.

I'm having a problem purchasing, or my card was charged in error

The purchase process is handled entirely by the Play Store and Hemisphere is not involved. Please direct billing concerns to Play Store support.

I have a suggestion for a new feature, or I want to report a bug!
